Donnelly College is hosting a stop on the National Eucharistic Pilgrimage on Friday, June 28. This event is a part of a multi-year eucharistic revival movement started by Catholic bishops around the country. While pilgrimages have a long history in the Church, this is the first time believers in the United States are walking coast-to-coast with Our Eucharistic Lord. 
The Eucharist, often referred to as Holy Communion, is one of the seven sacraments of the Catholic Church and what Catholics believe to be the Body, 血, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ.
A 2019 Pew Research Center survey revealed that only one third of U.S. Catholics believe that Jesus is truly present in the Eucharist, a truth which has been a core tenet of Catholicism since the Church's conception, instituted by Christ himself.
Donnelly is a part of one of four pilgrimage routes that will converge in Indianapolis, IN at the National Eucharistic Congress in July. Pilgrims will travel around 6,500 miles over 30 days.
Schedule of Events on June 28:
- 2:15 p.m. - Arrival and welcome to Donnelly's campus. Parking is free in the visitor lot or parking garage off Barnett Ave.
- 2:30 p.m. - Donnelly will host a bilingual English/Spanish Divine Mercy Chaplet. This will take place on Donnelly's green space quad.
- 3:00 p.m. - Procession alongside pilgrims to the Cathedral of St. Peter the Apostle. (1.2 miles)
